9 Sets Of Twins At Orfordville Elementary School
School Has 240 Students

ORFORDVILLE, Wis. -- What are the odds of having twins?

Better yet, what are the odds of having nine sets of twins at an elementary school with just 240 students?

The sixth grade at Orfordville Elementary School in Rock County has five pairs of twins. The fourth and fifth grades have two sets each.

Science teacher Dennis Socwell is a twin himself. Socwell said in some cases, it's tough to tells the twins apart. One example is Haley and Marina Gookin. He said they're identical twins with very similar personalities.

Two other Orfordville staff members, physical education teacher Jim Viaenne and food service worker Marilyn Klassy, also have a twin.

The school has even set aside a special day. The students dress like one another on Twin Day.

I remember there was a set of boy twins in our preschool class. I remember (or Mom repeating the story) that we couldn't tell the boys apart & Mom explained that's how it was for other people that that they couldn't tell us apart. We didn't understand why people couldn't tell us apart. Funny! I suppose it's not likely that all 9 sets will graduate in the same school district but wouldn't that be a fun class?

Me & You

Our first day of kindergarten, I believe. Julie on the left, in blue, Stacy on the right, usually in red. Mom made these dresses. The little sidewalk, tree and driveway are no longer there.

Julie wrote this for our birthday in 2006.

Peering into the pictures of our past
I see all the things that did not last.

The birthdays and once treasured presents in old photographs…those we all outgrew.

Thinking of how it is now and the way we were:
No, the memories aren’t all bliss--
Through it all I know I’ve been lucky to have you for my sis.

As we grew, our time together
was precious
Surely, it was more than we hardly knew!

Sometimes things and times we left behind do come to mind.
Now I like to think it wasn’t these things we just outgrew--

Instead, they became part of the story of me & you.

I printed it & framed a copy for each of us & Mom.

I was never very happy with mine hanging in the hallway so after seeing Julie's on a plate stand, I put mine in the living room on one too, by my other "black stuff"-a mirror & two other frames.

Birthday Book

Julie made this for me for our 30th birthday. It has pictures from many of our birthdays and others of us together. It's fun to have all these pictures to look at! Here's a couple pages - we'll probably add more pictures eventually so I won't take pictures of it all.

Our Names

Our names: Stacy Lynn & Julie Ann

The story goes that Mom & Dad knew they wanted a Stacy Lynn but didn't have another girl name. So I waited 4 days for a name! Dad suggested Julie. He liked a neighbor girl's name. I like my middle name being Ann. Grandma (pictured here) H's middle name is Anna. Mom's middle name is Ann. And we named our daughter Kira Anne.
